Careful citizens may have discovered station signs at exits of Jiaomenxi Station of Metro Line 4 were replaced with new type.
The Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport said they started work of replacing subway station signs on May 3, and will replace them with new signs at 52 transfer stations by August.
An official in charge of the project said the current subway signs put into use since 1999 are not bright enough at night. The information they offer is also insufficient, font size is too small as well. With LED lights, a new sign board is more power saving but brighter; it has number added on it for marking positions and font size and subway logo on it are bigger.
